Wylie Ranks Among Nation’s Most In-Demand Suburbs

Wylie has earned national attention as one of the country’s most popular suburbs to move to in 2025. A recent study by moveBuddha shows Wylie leading the Dallas-Fort Worth area with an inbound-to-outbound move ratio of 2.38. That means more than twice as many people are moving into Wylie as leaving, putting it ahead of regional heavyweights like Frisco.

Why Wylie?

The draw isn’t hard to understand. It’s all about affordability. While Frisco’s average home price sits around $661,000, Wylie’s comes in at about $435,000, a difference of nearly one-third. For families looking for space and a break from soaring housing costs, the value in Wylie speaks volumes.

The suburb also offers something that’s harder to measure: breathing room. On the far edge of Dallas, Wylie may not have the urban character or built-in amenities of its closer-in neighbors, but it offers bigger homes, larger lots and a price point that makes homeownership realistic for more families.

Growth In Context

Wylie isn’t alone in its surge. Across North Texas, Collin County cities continue to attract new residents at a rapid pace. According to census estimates, between July 2023 and July 2024, the county’s population increased by 46,694 residents, reaching an estimated 1,254,658. This follows a steady upward trend since the 2020 Census, when the population was recorded at 1,066,331. Over just four years, Collin County has added nearly 200,000 residents, reflecting its strong economic opportunities, quality of life and expanding infrastructure.

Zooming out, Texas suburbs as a whole are climbing the ranks. Boerne, near San Antonio, placed even higher than Wylie in the study — number four nationwide — with an inbound-to-outbound search ratio of 2.55.

The Bigger Picture

The moveBuddha report analyzed more than 60,000 searches through its Moving Cost Calculator to identify migration trends. Wylie’s showing confirms what many locals already know: while Frisco and Plano may dominate headlines, the outer-ring suburbs are becoming increasingly attractive to new residents who want affordability without leaving the metro entirely…
