Let’s Play: Celina Opens New Farm-Themed Playground At Old Celina Park

Celina families have a new reason to head outdoors. On Oct. 4, city leaders, state representatives and residents gathered at Old Celina Park for the ribbon cutting of a brand-new playground designed to bring farmyard charm and family fun to the city’s signature park.

A Community Celebration

The event marked the official opening of the playground at 12670 FM 428, where children immediately tested out slides, swings and climbing structures while parents and neighbors looked on. City officials described the project as a long-term investment in family-friendly recreation.

“This playground was built for families and visitors of all ages to enjoy, and today they showed us just how much fun it can be,” the City of Celina shared in a post announcing the opening.

Features and Design

The playground is farm-themed and tailored for children ages 2 to 12. It includes interactive equipment, climbing zones and shaded seating for families. Adjacent areas add a splash pad and multi-use court, ensuring a wide variety of activities for kids.

Dean Construction began work on the project last year, with a focus on safety and accessibility. ADA-compliant routes, new sidewalks and safety surfacing were added to ensure that all families can enjoy the space comfortably.
