Injured person flown to trauma center after showing up at recently-closed North Texas hospital

QUINLAN, Texas — A patient suffering from a traumatic injury had to be flown by helicopter to another hospital after he showed up at a newly closed emergency room in rural Hunt County, officials said.

Last month, the Hunt Memorial Hospital District Board voted to close two freestanding emergency rooms in Commerce and Quinlan, WFAA previously reported. However, the patient was unaware of the closure, South Hunt County Fire Rescue said in a press release.
