Crews respond to large fire in The Colony after receiving calls reporting an explosion, officials say

THE COLONY, Texas — Crews with The Colony Fire Department were dispatched to a fire on the 4600 block of Freeman Drive at 12:50 a.m. on Monday after receiving reports of an explosion, officials said.

Representatives with the fire department said that, upon their arrival, crews found what appeared to be a single-family home on fire, along with two other nearby structures also having caught flame. Firefighters then began attempting to put the fire out while simultaneously conducting search-and-rescue operations, officials said.

The large response to the scene, TCFD said, was due to concerns relating to head exposure to other homes nearby, and to keep the fire from spreading. As of 3:30 a.m., firefighters had contained the fire and were leaving the location…
