It wasn’t that long ago when H-E-B stores in North Texas were few and far between. In 2022, stores opened in Frisco and Plano to much fanfare, marking the start of the San Antonio-based grocer’s DFW takeover. Since, more than a dozen stores have popped up in cities such as McKinney, Allen, Alliance, Mansfield and Melissa, and the opening in Prosper back in August spawned massive lines.
We now know more details about a second store planned for Denton — the state’s Halloween capital that’s also home to the University of North Texas — with a $30 million price tag.

The H-E-B planned in Denton near University Drive and Bonnie Brae Street has been a long time coming, as H-E-B purchased the property in 2015.
It’s the second in the works for Denton, after the first near I-35 West and Robson Ranch Road was announced in March.
