HUNT COUNTY, Texas — Six men are facing felony charges for their alleged involvement with the death of an 11-year-old boy who died while in the care of a state-licensed residential treatment center last November.
This Thanksgiving will mark one year since 11-year-old Owen, whose last name WFAA is choosing not to use, was found unresponsive in his seat at a movie theater. He and 19 other residents from the former Thompson’s Residential Treatment Center were on an outing to see a movie with seven staff members from the facility, according to federal civil court records.
The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office determined Owen died of natural causes, attributing his death to complications with his intestines related to a surgery he’d undergone as a baby to fix a birth defect in his abdomen…
