Cheba Hut fans in McKinney will be waving their hands in the air like they just DO care when the doors open to the brand’s newest shop on Nov. 10. Soon, homies will Tame the Munchies with “toasted” subs, cottonmouth cures, sweet treats, savory goodies and vibes unlike any place in town. The new spot at 4610 W University Dr. — just up the street from Baylor Scott & White Medical Center and the on University Dr. — marks the seventh Cheba Hut in DFW and the 80th shop in the Chebaverse. This is the type of Northside plug that deals in blunts and nugs without getting in trouble with Johnny Law.
Bhavik Bhakta, the franchisee who owns the new location in McKinney, as well as the OG location in Denton, put his heart and soul into the new location’s mural. Working with Cheba Hut mainstay, Finley — whose murals are featured throughout the Chebaverse — Bhakta wanted to tell a story that was unique to him. Drawing inspiration from Bhakta’s experience as a second-generation American, Finley brought the new mural to life as an enlightenment‑style journey with BCE (Big Cheba Energy). Now, homies visiting the McKinney location will have something bold to study while they wait on a munchie‑taming sub. It’s trippy in the best way — no substances required.
“Cheba Hut hooked me years ago at Colorado festivals — the food, the vibe, the people,” said Bhavik Bhakta in a statement, Denton and McKinney franchise owner. “Bringing that energy home has been a dream. I love that we’re able to give the shops some local flavor mixed with our own personal culture, including the McKinney mural, which nods to my family’s belief that food brings people together. But my real joy is watching guests ‘Tame the Munchies’ every day — and knowing we’re just getting started.”…
