ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Tuesday morning, the next generation honored those who have served their country on Veterans Day with various breakfasts and programs, and at Wylie East Intermediate, they held a parade for the first time.
Fifth-grade teacher Julia Wishart said she knows the sacrifice of serving firsthand, with her husband currently deployed from Dyess Air Force Base.
“The biggest thing is respect, for sure. We talked a lot about that [while] getting ready for the parade, and how this day is not necessarily about them. It’s about our men and women in uniform,” Wishart said.

Wishart teaches students like Liam Beasley, whose dad is currently serving the country. He explained the importance of the day.
“It’s very dangerous being in the military, in the Air Force, and that they’re serving our country to be in it. So they’re sacrificing their lives to save our country,” Beasley said…
