A recent post on social media has brought to light some of the challenges faced by staff and leadership at the University of North Texas (UNT). The post, made by an assistant director at the institution, expressed frustration over what they perceive as a disconnect between the university’s leadership and the day-to-day realities of the staff. The assistant director criticized the leadership for their lack of support, performative meetings, and decisions driven by associate deans who seem disconnected from the actual work being done by the staff. The post also highlighted the perceived neglect of those doing the “real heavy lifting” while administrators are catered to based on their titles rather than their contributions.
