Eight people were arrested and dozens of fighting roosters taken into custody after authorities broke up a cockfighting operation on a rural property near Farmersville.
Deputies with the Collin County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched Nov. 28 to a property on County Road 697 in the Farmersville area, which is northeast of Dallas, after a report of animal cruelty, the agency said.
