Travel Alert: Scheduled I-30 Closures and Construction Impacting Rockwall County Commuters

Brace yourself, I-30 commuters — some notable disruptions are set to hit your travel plans in the coming week. According to information from Rockwall County’s official website, a series of closures and construction activities are scheduled in the name of progress, set to impede the flow of nighttime and daytime traffic alike, from Monday, December 8, through Saturday, December 13.

Drivers will also find the I-30 Westbound right lane from Erby Campbell to FM 3549 subject to overnight embankment efforts within the same hours. Meanwhile, daytime travel will be interrupted by flagging operations on FM 548 for embankment, removals, and bridge activities at Pond Branch, as well as on the I-30 Eastbound Frontage Road, for the unloading of drainage boxes and installation of concrete barriers, between 9 AM and 3 PM.

For those accustomed to utilizing the U-turn lanes at John King, upcoming bridge work will result in closures “as needed and opened when not in use,” ensuring the closure “is not expected to be used for the entire time frame shown.” The affected areas include both the east-to-west and west-to-east U-turns during daytime hours, as well as overnight, so planning will be essential for efficient navigation, per the Rockwall County’s official website…
