Lewisville police officer resigns after internal affairs findings following arrest, officials say

DALLAS — A Lewisville police officer charged with sexual assault of a child has resigned from the department after Internal Affairs discovered multiple policy violations, the department announced Monday.

Police Chief Brook Rollins said Internal Affairs charges were sustained against Officer Zacur Vargas, 32, who was arrested three days earlier in Heath, Texas. Rollins initiated termination proceedings based on findings of noncompliance with the law, immoral conduct and disregard of public trust. Vargas resigned from the department Monday.
