After Christmas, the Plano Police Department recommends residents do not advertise their new valuables to thieves by leaving big, branded boxes on the curb. Leaving packaging from high-value items like TVs, gaming systems or electronics at the curb can signal to thieves what residents were gifted and what’s available inside their home.
By taking a few simple steps, you may avoid becoming a victim.
Residents are encouraged to break down boxes and place them inside recycling bins if possible. If your recycling bin is full, flatten the boxes and turn them inside out so logos are hidden.
