Protestors gather on Denton’s Downtown Square in response to Immigration and Customs Enforcement violence

Over 200 protesters gathered in Denton’s Downtown Square for the grassroots, student-created protest organized by two senior English majors from Texas Woman’s University, Stephanie Rivera-Marrero and June Cooke, on Jan. 11.

Demonstrators marched around the perimeter of the Denton County Courthouse in response to the recent deaths of Renee Good and Keith Porter Jr.

Porter, 43, died after being shot by an off-duty Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer on New Year’s Eve. A week later, Good, 37, was shot in her car by an ICE officer…
