Plano educator garners prestigious Teaching America250 award

A Haggard Middle School teacher has won a prestigious national award recognizing excellence in teaching American history.

Ashlee Happy, an eighth grade U.S. history teacher, received the Teaching America250 Award from the Jack Miller Center, an educational nonprofit focused on civic education. The award recognizes 51 teachers — one from each state and Washington, D.C. — and Happy was selected to represent Texas.

Happy has 11 years of teaching experience and is a U.S. Air Force veteran. She is a National Board Certification candidate and serves on the Teacher Advisory Council for the National Constitution Center…
