The routine rhythm of yesterday’s McKinney City Council meeting came to a halt when the police chief stepped up to hand out the Chief’s Challenge Coin to two McKinney Police teams credited with saving lives in two very different emergencies.
One group of officers, Jeffrey Prigmore, Scott Collard, Sgt. Kyle Wilkerson, Theodore Stueve, Brockett Mueller, and Elizabeth James were honored for pulling an injured woman out of a home during a fast-moving family-violence call. Communications Specialist Anna-Nicole Williams was recognized separately for talking a panicked father through an unexpected home birth, then helping him clear his newborn’s airway when the baby started choking. The recognition briefly froze the council agenda and drew public praise for the department’s first-response work.
Rapid rescue after a violent domestic call
According to a McKinney Police Department Facebook post, two people flagged down officers just after 12:30 a.m. to report visible injuries and worrying behavior by a woman’s boyfriend. When officers looked through a window, they saw the woman on the floor and a suspect standing over her with a pistol raised above his head.
