FRISCO, Texas — Known as one of the fastest-growing cities in the country, Frisco will soon wrap up a roughly $80 million revitalization of its downtown Rail District. As city officials gave the latest update on the construction, longtime residents reflected on how the district has evolved since its early beginnings.
During that reflection, residents said they had visited the family-run restaurant called The Depot Café in downtown Frisco for decades. Connected to the Exxon gas station they also run on Main Street, it was originally a supermarket that dates back to the late 1950s.
“One thing you still count on is breakfast at Depot Café,” said Troy Pate, a longtime patron and Frisco native. “My family, the Mallow family’s been here since 1851. My grandfather was the signer of the Texas Constitution to re-admit us into the union.”…
