MESQUITE, Texas — Two Mesquite homes were destroyed by a fire believed to be caused by a floating lantern on March 5, officials said in a press release.
The Mesquite Fire Department responded to reports of a residential structure fire around 8 p.m. March 5 near Peachtree and Bruton roads, according to the release. When firefighters arrived, they found two homes on fire and worked to contain the blaze before it spread further.
