Frisco ISD Is Taking The Library Beyond School Walls With Book Bus

Access to books in Frisco ISD is about to go mobile. The district’s Library Services Department is preparing to launch Book Bus, a traveling library designed to bring books, literacy programs and interactive experiences directly into neighborhoods, including during the summer months when school is out.

According to Frisco ISD, the initiative has been in development for more than a year and reflects a broader effort to make library resources more accessible to students and families, regardless of location or time of year.

A Community Effort Behind The Scenes

The Book Bus is more than just a vehicle, it’s the result of a district-wide and community collaboration. According to Frisco ISD, the project began with a retired school bus donated by the Transportation Department and later refurbished through coordinated efforts across multiple teams. Facilities and construction services oversaw structural updates, while students from the district’s career and technical education center contributed design concepts for the exterior wrap.
