MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Body cam footage obtained by ABC24 shows a high-speed pursuit involving Arkansas State Police (ASP) that began on the Hernando de Soto Bridge and ended when police used a precision immobilization technique against the suspect in West Memphis.

ASP officers were returning to Arkansas from transporting a person to Tennessee around 1:30 a.m. on May 11, 2026, when they noticed a white Range Rover with Maryland tags traveling across the Hernando de Soto Bridge “at 109 MPH in a posted 55 MPH zone,” according to police documents.

The SUV traveled along Interstate 40 into Arkansas, pursued by ASP, and continued to drive at speeds approaching 100 MPH. Police “attempted a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) on the rear passenger fender” almost immediately, but were unsuccessful. After the failed immobilization maneuver, the suspect vehicle appeared to slow as if it were stopping, but “the passenger threw an open can of beer wrapped in a grocery bag over the bridge railing … then accelerated again, reaching speeds in excess of 130 MPH.”…
