‘Momma’ gets keys to new home after living in car

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – A Memphis woman who had been living in her car after a tree fell on her house now has the keys to her new home thanks to the generosity of strangers.

The 81-year-old was living in her car in her driveway when Action News 5 crews went to check on her back in July of 2025.

Christine Marshall, also known as “Momma,” said her home on South Parkway West had been in disrepair for years. Then, the roof collapsed, and the A/C went out.

Jason Smith from Titan Drywall and Construction led the charge to rebuild the home out of his own pocket, despite nearly $80,000 pouring in from a GoFundMe launched after Action News 5 broadcast the story…
