Victim follows alleged burglar when he returns to scene of crime

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police say a man accused of stealing nearly $7,000 worth of items from a North Memphis apartment was arrested about a week later after he returned to the scene of the crime and was confronted by residents.

Chase Pruett was arrested Sunday and charged with aggravated burglary and theft of property $2,500 -$10,000.

The owner of the apartment building didn’t want to be identified but told WREG, cameras captured Pruett making three trips to the property and leaving with a $1,500 lawnmower and $5,000 worth of clothing from a tenant’s apartment.

He said just a few years ago, the victim was homeless, but has since gotten his life on track and has been going to trade school. He said the young man is heartbroken by what was taken.
