MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – General Sessions Court Clerk Tami Sawyer was suspended from her job last Wednesday after being indicted for theft, fraud and money laundering on Monday, June 15.
Jeffery Walker, the former Chief Administrative Officer in General Sessions Court, filed a lawsuit against Clerk Sawyer last November. His executive assistant, Keona Bean, filed a lawsuit against Sawyer in April of this year.
Both say Sawyer broke Tennessee’s whistleblower protection law when she retaliated against them for reporting her abuse of the company credit card to county officials.
