NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Nearly 1,000 Tennessee workers could lose their jobs in the coming months as companies across the state announce closures and layoffs through a series of Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification, or WARN, filings.
Seven WARN notices filed with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development in June affect a combined 978 workers at facilities in Chattanooga, Memphis, Brentwood, Lebanon, Millington and Pigeon Forge.
The largest filing came from Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation, which plans to permanently close its Chattanooga facility on Broad Street. The closure, scheduled to take effect Sept. 25, will impact 315 workers, including both union and non-union employees…
