Ex-officer urges gun safety after death of 5-year-old

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — In 2022, firearms became the leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 17 in Tennessee, and Shelby County has the state’s highest burden of child firearm death.

Following Monday’s accidental shooting involving a five-year-old boy in southeast Shelby County, WREG spoke to a former law enforcement officer about how to change the culture surrounding weapons.
