MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Some University of Memphis students living in a sorority house lost nearly everything when a storm packing 80 mph winds moved through the area more than a week ago.

A tree fell on the University of Memphis Alpha Delta Pi house, causing significant damage to two bedrooms upstairs.

The home’s sprinkler system was also set off, flooding the house. The seven girls who lived there weren’t hurt, but had to leave all their belongings behind.

Chapter advisor Sylvia Castellano said there were just a few sorority members inside the townhome when the tree came down.

“They were in the bottom floor,” said Castellano. “What they describe is that they just heard a loud boom and, you know, the sprinkler set off. So then they exited the house.”…
