MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Students in all six municipal school districts in Shelby County and most Memphis-Shelby County schools will be back in class Tuesday, the districts announced Monday evening.
Memphis-Shelby County Schools said almost all of the schools in the district and all office buildings will reopen on Tuesday.
According to the district, MLGW confirmed significant progress in repairing water lines, pipes, and utility systems after the winter storm, allowing all but one of the schools to reopen.
Around 9 p.m., the district provided an update, saying that the water at Hamilton K-8 is not at an operable level and the school will remain closed on Tuesday.
MSCS says they are working with the health department to keep students and staff safe while the boil water advisory remains in effect by preparing meals for all students that don’t require water and have designated handwashing stations for Pre-K students. They said staff and K-12 students can safely use sink water for handwashing.
