Shooting near West Memphis school kills one
WMPD says they responded to the shooting on Weaver near Weaver Elementary at 2:15 p.m. They found Dorsey with multiple gunshot wounds, lying unresponsive next to a vehicle.
He died from his injuries.
WREG talked to a relative of Dorsey who believes the shooting was out of retaliation. According to the family member, the victim moved away from West Memphis last year because his home was being “shot up.”
His cousin, Daniel Dorsey, says he was picking his kids up from school when he was shot.
“They took his life in front of his kids, and somebody got to answer for that,” said Daniel. “He was a good guy. He had a good heart. An excellent heart. He was working good, and he was just trying to take care of his family.”
Daniel says he believes someone has been targeting his cousin for quite some time.
West Memphis Mayor Marco McClendon described the incident as “heartless,” and says they are still investigating.
