MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is charged with attempted murder after Memphis Police say he shot his girlfriend multiple times while they were inside his car Monday.
MPD says they initially responded to an armed robbery call at Nite and Day Food Mart on Chelsea Avenue.
Once they got on the scene, a witness told them that Felix Tate had pistol-whipped and shot a woman in his passenger seat. Officers saw a white Oldsmobile fleeing the scene and chased it.
Reports state that when Tate pulled over, he told them the woman in the seat was his girlfriend. MPD says she was slumped over with a gunshot wound to the head.
She was taken to Regional One Health, where they found she had three gunshot wounds to the head and several gunshot wounds to both her left and right legs.
Once in custody, Tate reportedly told police he and his girlfriend got into an argument and started fighting over a gun.
