MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Several business owners on Elvis Presley Boulevard are forced to start over after a Saturday morning fire destroyed their businesses.
Numerous fire trucks with the Memphis Fire Department crowded around a small shopping plaza near the intersection of Norris Road and Elvis Presley Boulevard, blocking the road for hours.
Multiple businesses were impacted by the fire. One business owner says he has been in the plaza since 1988.
“I checked my camera and I saw nothing but smoke,” said Ted Elahi, owner of Sound Mobile Electronics.
He says it’s a total loss.
“That’s the only business I have and unfortunately, I put my life in it,” said Elahi.
On the scene, nearly a dozen firefighters could be seen crowding around the entrance of one of the shops.

Elahi says even though that business has been closed for months, that’s where it’s believed the fire started.
“The pool hall people. They said they heard some kind of loud explosion and they just started running out,” he said.
