Downtown Memphis to celebrate ‘Mardi Gras on Main Street’: Here’s a look at what’s planned

Downtown Memphis will be the site of a five-day Mardi Gras celebration.

The “Mardi Gras on Main Street” festival will run Feb. 9-13. The event will celebrate “the vibrant culture of Downtown Memphis and aims to capture the spirit and exuberance of the famous New Orleans Mardi Gras.”

It is presented by iHeartRadio, Fat Tuesday, the Downtown Memphis Commission, Downtown Neighborhood Association, South Main Association and the Greater Memphis Chamber.

Events include:

  • Feb. 9: Roaring 20’s Mardi Gras Bar Crawl sponsored by Sprock n’ Roll Memphis. The bar crawl, which starts at 8 p.m., will hit Fat Tuesday, Ben Yay’s, Blind Bear and more.
  • Feb. 10: Mardi Gras parade at noon on Second Street. The parade will be preceded by a peace rally at 11 a.m.
  • Feb. 10: Mardi Glo Party at 8 p.m. at Fat Tuesday
  • Feb. 11: Various brunch parties at restaurants on and around Main Street including at Esco Memphis, One11 Madison, Sage and more.
  • Feb. 12: Masquerade Bash Monday at Esco at 8 p.m. It will be hosted by DJ Stormy of V101.
  • Feb. 13: Fat Tuesday Block Party at noon on South Main Street. The block party will include vendors, music and more.
