MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A police chase involving a suspect responsible for a carjacking ended in multiple crashes in Fox Meadows Saturday morning, according to Memphis Police.
MPD says officers responded to a carjacking in the 4300 block of American Way at 11:16 a.m.
The vehicle was located but refused to stop, which led to a police pursuit. The suspect crashed near Hickory Hill Road and Knight Arnold Road but struck three other vehicles before he was detained.

Police say one person was transported to an area hospital in non-critical condition.
“Pretty much chaos. A whole bunch of people came out of their cars hurt and limping,” said a witness on the scene.
Witnesses say the suspect jumped out of a yellow vehicle and ran towards a gas station on the other side of the intersection. That is where they say he was taken into custody by police.
“System is broken. Maybe it starts at home. I don’t know but they don’t want to work,” said the witness. “They just rather rob, steal, whatever is convenient for them.”
