MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The search for a suspect accused of several carjackings and shootings is finally over.
Sunday, the Memphis Police Department warned the public about a suspect on the run who they say was responsible for multiple violent crimes across the city. The suspect is accused of shooting three people Sunday, killing one of them.
Officers responded to the 3700 block of East Shelby Drive regarding a carjacking just after 10 a.m. Sunday. A blue Nissan Maxima was taken during the incident.
Police say the suspect was also connected to a shooting at 3834 East Shelby Drive, where an 18-year-old was killed Sunday morning.
Family grieving after teen killed in crime spree
MPD says the suspect was also responsible for an incident at 3539 Pilot Drive, where shots were fired, but no injuries were reported.
The accused gunman then made his way to 3575 Commerce Circle, where two women were shot. Family members there said one of the victims is 21 and was shot in the stomach.
Police also believe the gunman carjacked a person off of South Perkins Road, getting away in a Dodge Charger.
