Arkansas wagers $4 million on Super Bowl

ARKANSAS (KNWA/KFTA) — With the Super Bowl taking place last week, many people bet money on the Big Game.

In Arkansas, it was reported that just under $4 million was wagered on the Super Bowl through the state’s three casinos in Pine Bluff, Hot Springs and West Memphis.

This is approximately $1 million more than last year’s game when $2.9 million was wagered.

Many of these wagers resulted in good returns as a large number of Arkansans bet on the winning Kansas City Chiefs.

As sports betting continues to rise year-to-year, experts are predicting that 2024 should surpass the 2023 record of $404 million wagered on sports through the state’s casinos.

In 2023, tax revenue from sports betting totaled $5.33 million. The cities and counties that are home to these casinos receive a significant portion of that revenue.

Another reason as to why sports betting continues to rise is because of mobile betting options that were popular for Arkansas casinos in 2023.

Anyone who is over the age of 21 in the state can now bet on sports all from the comfort of their home.
