Thousands without power in East Memphis, MLGW says

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Over 10,000 people were without power in East Memphis Friday morning. According to the MLGW outage map, 10,519 customers had lost power in the East Memphis area. MLGW said they were aware of the situation, and that a circuit breaker failure at a substation along the Poplar Avenue corridor was the cause. They said they had crews working to restore power as safely as possible, and had contacted Memphis Police to assist with traffic control.
