Memphis Police say they don’t have suspect information at this time.

A family member identified the victim as 34-year-old Corey Gatlin, a father who was known for his kindness and community spirit.

Gatlin’s mother, though overcome with grief, confirmed her son’s identity. Gatlin’s mother did not want to be interviewed on camera but stated that her son leaves behind three children.

“We were just in a studio together,” a family member said. “Corey does all my videos. I do R&B. He records me and works on cars. He’s a funny guy and the life of the party. He keeps everyone laughing. I just don’t understand why someone would do this.”
