MPD: Man shoots into victim’s apartment after argument

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police say a man shot at another man’s apartment after the two got into an argument in the pool area.

At 6:14 p.m., officers responded to a shots fired call in the 200 block of S Front St.

They were told that the suspect, a bald 5’8″ man wearing a brown shirt and black shorts, was still in the area.

When officers arrived, the complainant told them that the suspect was located in the first-level hallway on the northeast corner of one of the apartment buildings.

They found the suspect without incident. In his right pocket, the suspect had a Ruger LCP with a .380 auto live rounds.

Officers managed to detain the suspect and secure the firearm.

The suspect admitted to officers that he was the one who fired shots in the apartment complex and later told officers that some individuals in the pool attacked him. He added that that made him feel threatened and led him to fire the shots.

He claimed that someone else had fired shots at him.

He also said that he was “tired of being disrespected by the white people” and had gotten into a physical altercation with a man with dreads.
