Axe-wielding man damages customer’s car at gas station

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police say a man asked to leave a gas station on Southern Avenue Friday took an axe to a customer’s car.

MPD said surveillance video from the Valero showed the suspect get out of a silver car with an axe and begin hitting a vehicle in the parking lot.

The suspect struck the victim’s vehicle several times before leaving. Investigators said the suspect had been asked to leave the store before the vandalism due to his involvement in prior thefts.

The suspect was wearing a blue shirt, black shorts, and black Adidas slides. The car he was driving did not have a tag. He is facing a charge of vandalism.
