More than 100 shots fired at apartment guards; 3 charged

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Three men were arrested and charged after police say security guards at a Binghampton apartment complex were shot at more than 100 times.

Two security guards at The Red Oaks Apartments told police Tuesday that people in a gold Buick SUV shot at them.

Police found the SUV nearby and put on their lights. The SUV stopped at Scott Street and Broad Avenue. Two suspects got out and ran while a third stayed in the vehicle.

Police say they found three guns and marijuana inside, and 105 shell casings were found at the scene. Video showed the occupants of the SUV firing at the scurity guards.

Matthew White, Johnny Rias and Thomas Mayo are each charged with two counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony and possession of marijuana.

The Shelby County Jail log shows all three men held with a court date set for Thursday.
