MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A monkey escaped containment briefly Friday, the Memphis Zoo confirmed. The male colobus monkey, named “Rajesh ‘Raj’ Koothrappali, PhD” after the character from “The Big Bang Theory,” escaped by bending the door on his transport crate while being moved from his night house to the zoo hospital. The zoo said the monkey stayed close to his familiar exhibit throughout the incident, which is common for animals in these situations.
