MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 17-year-old was injured in a shooting in the Raleigh neighborhood early Tuesday morning, Memphis Police say.

According to a police report, officers responded to a home in the 3200 block of Whitney Avenue just after 2 a.m., where they found a teen who had been shot in the upper left arm.

The victim allegedly told police that he was standing in front of the Dollar General in the 2700 block of Frayser Boulevard when he was shot. Police say he later told them he was in the area of Annie’s Town Homes on Rangeline near Corning Avenue.

Neither of the locations appeared to have been a crime scene, MPD said.

The teen was taken to Le Bonheur in non-critical condition.

The victim’s stepmother reportedly told police that she did not know where her stepson was when he was shot. She said he “just came home beating on the door,” according to a report.
