Two corrections deputies charged with bringing drugs into jail

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two Shelby County corrections deputies have been arrested and accused of bringing drugs into the jail, among other charges.

Joshua Williams and Lillie Pittman are both charged with bribery of a public servant, introducing/possessing contraband in a penal facility, possession of marijuana with intent to manufacture/deliver/sell, and official misconduct.

They were indicted and arrested Friday, records show.

Suspects in deadly crash connected to 2 other crimes

Both are corrections deputies with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, SCSO confirmed. Their current employment status is not clear.

Bond was set at $40,000 for both. Williams’ bond was paid, jail records show.

Details have not been made public but the court system says the incident happened on Sept. 1.
