Southaven trash collectors help save man’s life on route

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Southaven, Mississippi couple is calling their local garbage collectors angels after they helped save a life.

Calvin Williams and Tony Henry, two workers with contractor Waste Pros, were on their route in Southaven recently when they came across a man lying in his driveway.

Bob Miller was bleeding from his head after a fall. He had walked outside a few minutes earlier to take the garbage out.

Williams and Henry took quick action, calling 911 and applying pressure with napkins to stop the bleeding until paramedics arrived.

Miller’s wife calls them “Waste Pro Angels” and thanked them for saving her husband’s life. She stopped by the company’s division office to make sure everyone knew.

I feel blessed to have Calvin and Henry as part of our Southaven Division. Jumping into action and utilizing safety training changed the outcome of the holiday season for the Miller family,” said Waste Pro Division Vice President Jon Snyder.
