Suspects wanted in East Memphis attempted robbery, shooting

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A brazen attempted robbery on Wednesday ended in shots being fired in East Memphis.

Now, Memphis Police are looking for those responsible.

According to investigators, two unknown teenagers robbed a man and a woman at gunpoint in the 1400 block of Getwell Road.

WREG spoke exclusively with one of the victims, who works at a food truck in East Memphis.

“I was locking up here and the guy said, ‘Give me the money,” the male victim said. “I don’t have that much money, so I said, ‘Okay. Here you go.”

Video of the incident showed a tussle between one of the victims and one of the suspects before the suspect began firing.

Thankfully, neither victim was shot.

“He thinks I’m dying but no,” the male victim said. “I am here.”

In the video, the two suspects can be seen getting into a white Toyota 4Runner driven by a third suspect.

Memphis Police said the vehicle was stolen earlier that day and has been since recovered.

Just hours after that attack, Memphis Police said the same suspects attempted another armed robbery, just down the street.
