MFD fights fire at South Memphis home

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Memphis Fire Department worked to put out a fire at a South Memphis home on Thursday morning.

The fire broke out at a home on South Parkway and Pillow Street just after 6 a.m. MFD later said the fire was accidental, causing $43,000 in damages to the structure.

MFD Public Information Officer Qwanesha Ward says the home was vacant during the blaze and no one was injured.

Even though the cause of the house fire is still under investigation, Ward says oftentimes when they do respond to these vacant house fires, the fire is usually caused by someone who is just trying to stay warm…
