MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – The second-floor residents at Washington Manor Apartments in South Memphis received a letter Friday afternoon saying they had to vacate their unit by 10 p.m. that day.
The Memphis mayor’s office says Memphis Fire Department responded to a stairwell collapse at the apartment complex Wednesday. One resident was injured in the incident, prompting Memphis Code Enforcement to inspect the property.
“The steps are in bad condition,” says Linda Moss, a tenant of Washington Manor since 2007. “They don’t want nobody else to get hurt out here. That’s why we got to relocate.”…
