Paroled Memphis Man Markail Rainey Arrested Again, Faces Domestic Assault and Evasion Charges

Memphis authorities have reported the arrest of a man previously convicted of several serious offenses and on parole, marking another incident in the city’s ongoing challenge with recidivism. According to the Memphis Police Department’s social media post, Markail Rainey was apprehended on Monday, with help from multiple law enforcement units, including MGU, GRT, MPD Fugitive, SCSO FAT, and state and federal partners.

Rainey’s arrest has drawn attention not only because of his current violation status with the Tennessee Department of Corrections, but also because he now also faces new charges that include Domestic Assault and Bodily Harm, and charges stemming from his resistance during the arrest, specifically Evading Arrest and Resisting Official Detention. Rainey, previously paroled for Facilitation of Aggravated Robbery, Especially Aggravated Kidnapping, and Theft of Property, is expected to be held without bond and may quickly find himself back within the TDOC system, pending a parole violation hearing…
