Southaven is considering an ordinance that would crack down on excessive street parking in residential neighborhoods and possibly limit the number of cars that can be parked in the driveway.
Mayor Darrren Musselwhite said there is a problem in some of the smaller neighborhoods with an inordinate number of cars parked in driveways and on residential streets which sometimes blocks neighbor’s driveways and takes away other’s ability to park in front of their home.
“Not only is it aesthetically bad for the property values in the neighborhood, it becomes a problem with parking,” Musselwhite told the Board of Aldermen at its May 5 meeting. “Too many cars parked on the street, it becomes a safety issue.”…
