MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Some scary moments for a clerk at a Parkway Village vape shop who tried to stop two men trying to steal from the store.
Memphis Police released pictures of two men they said pulled a gun on a Vape City employee after he locked them inside the business in the 4600 block of Winchester Sunday afternoon.
Police said one of the men, who was wearing a gray beanie and black hoodie, attempted to purchase multiple items, but his credit card was declined.
While the store clerk had his back turned, the suspect reached over the counter, took several items without paying, and attempted to flee. Investigators said the second suspect was acting as a lookout at the door during the incident.
The store clerk said he activated the remote locking mechanism, securing the front door and preventing the suspects from exiting, and that’s when the suspect in a gray beanie lifted his hoodie and grabbed a handgun from his waistband.
