Memphis Man Charged with Murder in Medical District Shooting Held on $1M Bond

A recent bond hearing placed a significant financial barrier between freedom and a man accused of first-degree murder. The court set the bond at $1 million for Marcus Jackson, who is now facing charges linked to a deadly shooting in the Medical District.

Assistant District Attorney Dijahanua Jones, fresh on the job, made a persuasive case to secure the hefty bond. The Shelby County District Attorney’s Office reports that on June 2, at approximately 5:19 p.m., officers congregated in response to a shooting that occurred on the corner of South Camilla Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue. They discovered a male victim, his body failing beneath the weight of gunshot wounds. He was rushed to Regional One Health, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries…
